5 Things we’re doing this election to push for #GenFairnessNow
It’s time for our government to focus on Generational Fairness

Mark your calendars because on September 20th we’re heading to the polls.

...wait, didn’t we just have an election? 2019 feels like it was just yesterday. That’s probably because many of us have been staring at the same four walls for the last 18 months (#ThanksCovid).

Even though it’s early, this election is the real deal and the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been. That’s why it’s important that we all get informed and vote.

This election, Generation Squeeze is demystifying the process to help you better engage with what matters most: Understanding whether the parties asking for our votes are committed to solving the problems facing younger generations in Canada.

Here are 5 things you can expect from us during the election.

1. We’re giving you a chance to share your priorities

Sometimes it feels like the needs of younger generations in Canada are ignored in federal elections.

We want to fix that. That's why we're giving the Gen Squeeze community and younger generations a platform to share their voices. For the next week, we’re running a poll to ensure these priorities are heard.

It only takes 2 minutes to complete and helps us ensure that our campaigning better reflects your priorities, now and in the future. Let’s raise our voices and make our priorities clear!

Take the poll here.

2. We’re talking about solutions

Gen Squeeze recently released 4 detailed solutions frameworks to fix “The Squeeze” and promote health and wellbeing for younger and future generations.

Check them out:

Throughout the election, and beyond, we are embarking on a mission to ensure anyone interested in solutions can easily understand them.

You can expect informative blog posts, video chats with our founder Dr. Paul Kershaw, media appearances, shareable infographics and more. We're striving to break down the barriers of understanding so that anyone can confidently talk about real solutions with their families, friends, colleagues and communities.

These solutions are also the foundation of our upcoming party platform analysis.

3. We’re preparing a Voter’s Guide

We know that the party platforms can be long, complicated and sometimes leave you wondering if the party’s promises will actually solve the problems they claim to address. Don't worry, Gen Squeeze has got you covered!

Our team will analyze each party’s platform against our research-backed solutions game plans. Our analysis will demonstrate how close the parties’ commitments get us to achieving our goal of a Canada that promotes generational fairness and supports the wellbeing of all Canadians.

Here’s what we've got coming up:

  1. A detailed platform analysis: We will analyze all of the party platforms and score them based on how close each party will get us toward achieving our goals. You will be able to read the full analysis on our website once available.

  2. A Voter’s Guide: We will distill the findings of the detailed analysis into a simple, easy to understand guide. This serves as a compliment to the full analysis and provides you with a birds-eye view of how the parties' platforms stack up.

  3. Issue scorecards: In addition to the full guide, we’re releasing individual and easily shareable scorecards that summarize how far each party is moving to solve problems facing young people.

We want to ensure that everyone who wants to can access important information needed to understand how well the parties are addressing the issues that matter to younger generations.

Be sure to subscribe to our email list to be the first to get access to the Voter’s Guide when it releases.

4. We’re hosting a roundtable to answer your questions

Some folks may have questions about our analysis and the Voter’s Guide.

That’s why we’re hosting a roundtable discussion to explain our reasoning and to answer your questions.

Oncer we finalize the event date, we’ll invite you to register for and submit any questions you want answered by our panelists. This will be a “live” event, but if you can’t make it we’ll share the recording after the fact so that you can watch it at your leisure.

Be sure you’re subscribed to Gen Squeeze’s email list to get the details on this even as soon as they're ready.

5. We’re giving you tools to push for solutions

In addition to the upcoming Voter’s Guide and scorecards, we’re also developing a series of infographics and shareables for you to download and distribute with your networks.

These infographics will include:

  • Important facts about the problems facing younger generations that need to be solved
  • Breakdowns of solutions that promote health and wellbeing
  • Memes that break down the issues

It’s important that you have the tools to get the facts in front of people in your social media networks and to bust myths about the problems facing young people today.

Elections are exciting and important. But, if you’re like us, you know that the work to create a future that prioritizes our health and wellbeing doesn’t end at the ballot box.

If we want to build a future that truly works for ALL Canadians, we need a movement that fights for generational fairness, now and in the future. That’s what Generation Squeeze is all about.

We are a force for intergenerational fairness, powered by the voices of Gens X, Y, Z and those who love them, to improve everyone’s wellbeing.

The more people who join us, the more power we have to influence the upcoming budgets and push for solutions that matter to us. Join our movement. Let’s keep pushing for a future that prioritizes the health and wellbeing of ALL Canadians.
