Housing in the GTA: What's at stake?

More than 400 people attended Housing in the GTA: What's at Stake?, a landmark event on March 1 organized by Generation Squeeze, Habitat for Humanity GTA and the Aga Khan Council for Canada’s Future Ready Initiative, hosted at The Ismaili Centre. The discussion kicked off a three-part series, with more discussions planned for April 19 and June 7, 2023.

The housing crisis is on our doorstep and, to solve it, we need to move past the rhetoric. Why? Because a better future is possible and achievable. Through this discussion, we explored how we can create it. Event participants took home a guide to actions they could take to tackle the housing crisis.

Moderated by Rahim Ladhani, CTV News Toronto Anchor & Reporter, the discussion drew on the perspectives of three guest speakers:

  • Dr. Sacha Bhatia, Population Health and Value Based Care Executive, Ontario Health

The unique format of the evening drew on input from the audience that fed into a moderated discussion with our three speakers. The formal session was followed by an informal reception for the entire audience to engage with our speakers, leaders from the three presenting partners, and local politicians on how to translate knowledge into action and positive change.
